The Invaluable Role of Barangays in the Third Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill

Earthquakes pose a significant threat to communities, and being prepared for such natural disasters is of utmost importance. In our country, where seismic activity is prevalent, the government conducts regular earthquake drills to enhance preparedness and response capabilities. One notable event is the Third Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, which showcases the active participation of barangays, the smallest administrative unit of the society.
This write-up highlights the role played by barangays in this drill and their contribution to building resilient communities.
During the Third Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill earlier today, 7 September 2023 barangays of the Municipality of Sudipen under the leadership of Mayor Weng performed the Duck, Cover, and Hold and initiated evacuation procedures. This exercise allows barangays to assess their readiness and identify areas for improvement.
The participation of barangays in the Third Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill demonstrates their invaluable role in strengthening disaster preparedness at the grassroots level.
